In the fall of 1999 the Youth Consortium was established to provide skill-based programs and entertaining activities for Beaver Island's youth.

The Consortium is guided and funded by board members from Peaine Township, St. James Township, the Beaver Island Community School, and the Preservation Association of Beaver Island.

It has implemented programs involving gymnastics, stained glass and jewelry making, S.A.D.D., teen dances, and a school yearbook.
