Experienced Plumber, HVAC, and/or Electrical Service Technician

Robert’s John Service is a small, locally owned company on Beaver Island, Michigan, specializing in plumbing, HVAC and electrical work. Beaver Island is located in northern Lake Michigan and is the most remote inhabited Island in all of the Great Lakes. This position presents the opportunity to live in a unique and beautiful location.

Robert’s John Service provides services for both residential and commercial sites (including winterizing seasonal homes); as well as work on new construction and remodeling.

We are looking for an experienced, dependable employee who works well with others, is organized, conscientious and trustworthy, to enhance our already established team.

Marina Cleaning Person The marina cleaning person will perform essential cleaning of north and south marina bathrooms and shower room facilities. Must be a self-motivated and task-oriented individual with ability to work early mornings daily to ensure sterile and clean facilities for boaters. Must be a pro-active individual, work well independently and in a team and be willing to go above and beyond when needed. This employee will work prior to the season opening and approximately 30 hours per week during the boating season. Compensation is paid at a rate set by the St James Township Board in a range of $16 – $20 per hour. Immediate deadline is April 27, 2022. Posting will remain open until position is filled.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Daily inspect, clean and sanitize bathrooms and showers at two marina locations Keep inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, and report needs to supervisor
Operate marina maintenance and cleaning equipment, such as vacuums, mops, brooms, tools, etc.
Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time, bend, kneel, stoop, and lift or move heavy equipment
Comply with all safety procedures and precautions and health regulations
Ability to work independently and follow instructions from supervisors to perform assigned tasks
Ability to project a courteous and positive public image of Beaver Island and St. James Township
May be required to work outside of normal work hours

Preferred Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent.
At least two (2) years of work experience, previous custodial experience preferred
Ability to work early mornings and weekends

Marina Attendant(s): The marina attendant(s) will work with the Harbormaster to operate the Municipal Marina to meet the standards and rules set by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the St James Township Board. The selected employee(s) will be expected to provide continuous effort to develop a user-friendly marina. The marina attendant(s) will work 40 hours per week from mid-June through late August. Pay Range is $16 – $19/hour. The township is seeking several marina attendants. Immediate deadline is 5:00pm on April 27, 2022. Posting will remain open until positions are filled.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Working familiarity with boating
Working familiarity with computer systems, specifically reservations and sales
Ability to work outdoors in all types of summer weather
Ability to project a courteous and positive public image of Beaver Island and St. James Township
Ability to provide exceptional customer service with a positive attitude
Ability to work in a team, follow instructions from supervisors and perform assigned tasks
